The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an industrial visit for final-year Diploma students to Gurucharan Industries, Baikampady, Mangalore, on 24 July 2025, to enhance practical understanding of mechanical engineering concepts.

Gurucharan Industries, established in 1996, is a reputed manufacturer, exporter, and wholesaler of industrial machinery including punching machines, sealing and cutting machines, agglomerators, high-speed mixers, and blown film plants. These machines cater to the plastic, engineering, and automobile sectors and are recognized for their efficiency, durability, and ease of maintenance.

During the visit, students received an overview of the company’s operations followed by a guided tour of key departments such as manufacturing, assembly, quality control, and research and development. Live demonstrations of various machines provided valuable insights into real-time machining processes, operational workflows, safety standards, and maintenance practices. Interactive discussions with engineers further enriched the learning experience.

The visit enabled students to relate classroom knowledge to industrial applications, gain exposure to modern manufacturing technologies, and understand professional work culture and safety ethics. Overall, the industrial visit proved to be an informative and motivating experience, reinforcing the importance of industry-oriented learning for aspiring mechanical engineers.
