Students from the Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering departments of BIT Polytechnic visited the Research Central Annexe, NITK Surathkal, on 31 July 2025, to gain exposure to advanced research facilities and interdisciplinary innovation.
The visit began with an overview of the Annexe’s research focus and collaborative ecosystem, followed by a guided tour of key laboratories, including the Advanced Materials Research Lab and the Robotics and Mechatronics Lab. Students observed live demonstrations on smart sensors, sustainable material testing, 3D-printed models, and Finite Element Modeling, offering practical insights into modern engineering applications.
Research presentations by faculty members and doctoral scholars covered topics such as earthquake-resilient design and thermal fluid simulations. An interactive Q&A session enabled students to explore opportunities in research projects, internships, and research assistantships.
The visit effectively bridged academic learning with real-world engineering challenges, inspiring students to pursue collaborative research and advanced studies.
