Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangalore, organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Qualities of 21st Century Faculties” on 17 July 2025 at the Seminar Hall. The session aimed to go beyond conventional technical training and focus on the personal, psychological, and professional attributes essential for educators in today’s dynamic academic environment.

The program was led by Mr. Ateeq ur Rahman, NLP Trainer and Motivational Speaker, who highlighted the evolving role of teachers from subject experts to holistic mentors. He emphasized that effective teaching is driven by energy and engagement rather than scheduled hours, identifying five core energies—Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Spiritual, and Creative—as key to sustained excellence in teaching. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining intellectual energy to stay relevant in the era of AI and digital transformation.

Faculty members were encouraged to embrace the principles of unlearning and relearning, periodically reassessing their teaching methods and mindsets. The session also addressed changing student expectations, advocating a shift from traditional command-based teaching to a more collaborative, empathetic, and student-centric approach.

The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session where faculty shared classroom challenges and experiences. Dr. S. I. Manjur Basha, Principal, BIT, and Dr. Aziz Mustafa, Principal, BIES, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening institutional quality and reinforcing the human element at the heart of the teaching–learning process.
